Our Prayer
Virtual Circle Lesson January 31,
2003
Absolute, Infinite, Beingness – God
Everlasting Life, Love, and Mercy.
Manifesting Your Self within Your Self
As the Total Wisdom and Almightiness.
Enlighten our minds to understand your Truth
Clean our hearts to reflect Your love towards You
And towards all other human beings.
Amen
This
is our prayer and Daskalos began each Stoa Lesson with this great
invocation. This prayer has deep meaning. It contains the tenants of the
Researchers of Truth. It is a true prayer of every human being
regardless of their spiritual orientation.
But a prayer is much more than just
mechanically reciting a series of words and letting our mind hop from one
thought to another. We should feel a deep connection with the meaning
behind the words of our prayers. Empowered prayers come from an
integration of our heart, mind, and spirit. It is beneficial to say a
prayer before beginning any meditation or healing work. Prayer is an
effective method for invoking the authority of God and Self to silence the
sometimes tyrannical nature of egoism.
Why do we pray and what is a prayer?
There are many kinds of prayers made with varying degrees of purity.
Prayers of supplication are where the person prays to gain something from
God that they deem lacking. There are prayers of intercession
petitioning God to intercede in the course of events. There are also
prayers of thanksgiving. These prayers of gratitude are acknowledgements
for something good that has been received. There are prayers which are
really
promises made to our Self and or God. There are worship prayers of
adoration that are made in praise of God and that which is good. Clearly
God does not need our prayers. We are in need of attunement with God, and
prayer can be an effective means of that attunement.
If we look at the first part of our
prayer above we can see that it takes the form of a statement. It is an
affirmation to and about God. The first line in our prayer is: “Absolute
– Infinite – Beingness”. This is a reference to God in
manifestation. As an incarnating human being we are not able to comprehend
God in an un-manifested state in Its original
condition. We know there must be a cause behind God in
manifestation, but it is beyond any name or form and way beyond our
ability to research it. It is like a scientist trying to do physical
research on the conditions of the material universe before the so-called
Big Bang. It is simply not possible.
As a reference term to point to this
un-manifested original condition of God the name Absolute Infinite
Be-ness is given. God in manifestation we call Absolute
Infinite Beingness, the Absolute Infinite Reality and the Absolute Infinite Selfhood. God is Absolute Selfhood
and not a
blind force. It is an Absolute, All Knowing Self Awareness.
In the first line of our prayer we have
a description of some of the knowable characteristics of God, let’s
consider them carefully. The first word “Absolute tells of Its
perfect nature, total, complete and without restriction. Infinite
means It is without limits, beyond any attributable value. It is both
infinitely small and infinitely large. The word Beingness gives
much meaning to this description of God. It is called Beingness because
It is composed of an infinite number of Eternal Beings, similar in nature
to God. The Jews are calling Eternal Beings within God the Elohim.
The word Elohim is derived from the ancient Egyptian and Aramaic
languages. “El” meant God and “him” meant plurality - thus Elohim
literally means God in plurality. But this does not mean there is more
than one true God. In the Bible the condition of God as the Infinite
Beingness is stated as the God of Hosts and the Lord of Hosts. It is known in our circles as the “Divine Multiplicity of God”.
Multiplicity does not mean God multiplies. Multiplicity means being in great numbers. Yet these innumerable Eternal
Beings are in full unity with God. They are not in a dualistic state that
makes them feel separate from God. They are in complete At-One-Ment with
God while retaining their individuality.
Metaphorically we can say that as our
material body is composed of innumerable individual cells so too is the
body of God composed of an incalculable number of eternal Monadic Beings.
Some of these Beings within the Absolute Beingness are destined to project
a ray of their Spirit through the archetype of the Human Idea and express
themselves as Human Beings. Others are destined to project a ray of their
Spirit through the Archangelic archetype and express their nature as the
Archangelic Beings.
The next line of the prayer declares God
as Everlasting Life, Love and Mercy. The Everlasting Life is - was
- and will always BE. Its characteristic is the complete and total
Self-Sufficiency – It needs nothing outside of Itself. Now it is good to
contemplate the difference between the Everlasting Life and the temporary
forms of life we see around us. On the material plane there is an
abundance of life forms being born, growing and eventually dying. On the
psychical planes there are even more forms of life than found on earth.
But there is a great difference between these mortal life-forms and the
Everlasting Life that animates them. The Everlasting Love & Mercy
of God are eternal in duration. They do not wax or wane. God never ever
withdraws this Love for us. Even when as a personality we misbehave badly.
By our way of thinking, feeling and behaving we can become un-tuned to
this Love and feel separated from it. But this Love for us is unaffected
by our behavior and continues to emanate perfectly for all eternity.
Next is the declaration: “Manifesting
Your Self within Your Self…” This is a statement concerning the
omnipresence of God. It is everything and It is within everything.
God is
equally present everywhere simultaneously. Not only in the sense of
space within the material universe but everywhere in the sense of place as
found in all the worlds of existence and beyond. The prayer continues:
“…As the Total Wisdom and the Almightiness” This line is stating
specifically what God is manifesting within Itself. The Total Wisdom in
the Divine Plan is the
omniscience
of
God. It is the all
knowingness, total knowledge of everything – nothing escapes God’s
attention. The Almightiness is the universal power and infinite
authority.
By reciting mindfully
this first part of the prayer we are attuning to God. When we take more
time and ponder deeply this part of our prayer, we are also following the
Seven Promises
of a Researcher of Truth. That is to: To meditate and
to contemplate the Absolute Infinite Beingness every day.
The second half of the prayer makes
requests. The first request is for God to “Enlighten our minds to
understand his Truth.” This is an important request as we often find
our selves confused or even completely ignorant of the true causes of the
problems we face in our lives. Likewise we are limited in our
understanding of the truth concerning who we are, what we are, and the
nature of the reality we find ourselves in. This is the point: to know
the Truth and the Truth will free us. It frees us from the illusions,
confusions, and negative influences. Every human being has the right to
research the truth for themselves and ascend the ladder of relative truths
towards Absolute Truth. In our prayer we are asking for help to bring forth
conditions that will enable us to understand a greater measure of the truth
concerning Life, ourselves and God. It is a request to break the
illusion of separateness and truly understand the truth that all human
beings are brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, sons and daughters to each
other. Understanding these truths more deeply we begin to glimpse what
we are in God and what God is in us.
The final line of our prayer is very
beautiful: “Clean our hearts to reflect your love towards you and all
other human beings. This is the ultimate persuasion of any true
religion or spiritual system - To love God and to love one another.
|
We are
well advised to Love our fellow human beings as our own Self because
in truth they are our Self.
It takes deep meditation to touch this truth. |
Nobody can claim that he loves
God if he doesn't love other human beings around him ~
DASKALOS |
As Eternal Spirit Beings we are all
equal in a state of Oneness within Absolute Infinite Beingness. This is
the Common Logoic Selfhood, to which one day all of us will return. We
must keep in mind that the people around us are also gods under the
influences of illusion in the worlds of separation just as we are. They
need our love not our criticism.
Love to all,

An exercise
regarding elementals by Daskalos
from a Stoa Lesson
Now, we’ll make an exercise.
"Concentrate in the chest now, near the heart, and see a Sun radiating
from your heart. Light - You are the light.
"Bring in front of you a person with
whom you have differences. See that person smiling and tell that person,
in your mind, that you love him or love her with pure Love - not personal
love. Send a wish for that person to be happy.
"Clean our hearts to reflect Your
Love towards You and towards all other human beings. Blessed are the pure
in heart for they shall see God."

From a Stoa Lesson
By Daskalos |

"What's a prayer? Just going to a building we call a
church, kneeling down and reciting what the others taught us? Using the
time just to recite it subconsciously? Is this prayer? No!
What's a prayer? For me, it is concentration,
meditation and observation. That means prayer for me. And, after knowing
the reality - adoration. That means thanksgiving to the Infinite
Intelligence.
"Should we make a prayer before we start our
meditation?" I say, it is necessary! Why? Because you give thanks, and you
have to give thanks, because in this way we create those vibrations
keeping back all other negative vibrations. Because we have to prepare
ourselves to work on positive vibrations, casting away all negative (I
won't call them devilish) vibrations.
What was our invocation at the beginning before starting the lesson?
"Clean our hearts to reflect your love to all human beings" - a Seeker of
the Truth has no enemies. There may be people calling themselves his
enemies but, he has no enemies. Your heart must reflect only the love
towards God and towards all other human beings. See that there is no
complaint against anybody in your sub-consciousness!
We cannot have enemies. Shall we have friends?
Neither enemies nor friends - have brothers and sisters belonging to the
same family. Our human family belongs to the same house. Our house is the
planet. So, we should have this in mind.

Daskalos has long
enjoyed the companionship of a Master on the other side. For nearly two
thousand years Daskalos has been in continuous communication with Yohannan
(St. John), with whom he shared the blessed period of Joshua Emmanuel the
Christ.
In this Incarnation
Daskalos renewed his communion with Yohannan at a very young age. When
Daskalos was seven years old Yohannan bestowed on him the Seven Promises
which are the vows of all Researchers of Truth.
The promises embody
a timeless pledge to the Divine Plan. Taking moral guidance from the
promises through daily meditation an aspirant will, in time, attune
himself to the Divine Laws of Creation.
